The GrowWell Learning Portal is a central hub providing early childhood and preschool educators and parents with access to social and emotional learning (SEL) resources, practical guidance, and training materials designed to support children aged 3–7 years.
These resources aim to empower preschool educators and parents to support children’s resilience, well-being, and social and emotional development through engaging videos, activities, and practical learning resources. They help children explore emotions, develop self-awareness, strengthen relationships, and build important skills for lifelong learning and well-being.
The GrowWell SEL resources are available in four languages. Each language has the same core learning content structured around 12 SEL topics, and adapted to the linguistic and cultural context of each partner country.

Inside the GrowWell SEL Resources
The GrowWell SEL resources include 12 social and emotional learning topics identified through research, policy review, curriculum analysis, and consultation across the project partner countries. The project also developed content development guidelines informed by research on child development and social and emotional learning, ensuring that all resources are age-appropriate, engaging, accessible, and aligned with children’s developmental needs.
Each topic includes:
- A short animated video introducing the topic
- Guided discussion prompts to support reflection and conversation
- Activity guides for educators and parents
- Outdoor learning activities
- Printable resources, including worksheets, flashcards, and posters
The resources are designed for flexible use in early childhood and preschool education settings and at home. Activities can be adapted to different learning environments, group sizes, and children’s needs. While the educational content is consistent across all partner countries, selected character names and cultural references have been adapted to reflect the local language and context.

We recommend beginning each topic with the animated video, supported by the accompanying lesson plan to guide viewing and discussion. The suggested approach is to watch the video twice with the children. The first viewing should be uninterrupted, allowing children to experience the story as a whole. During the second viewing, pause at the designated moments using the questions provided in the plan to encourage reflection and discussion.
Pause icons appear in the top-right corner throughout the videos to prompt educators and parents to stop, engage children in conversation, and use the accompanying questions to explore emotions, experiences, and ideas together. Additional discussion questions may be adapted to suit the children’s age, interests, and individual needs.
The accompanying activities can be used flexibly and adapted to different learning environments, group sizes, and children’s developmental levels. Designed primarily for offline use, the activities include creative, practical, and nature-based experiences that encourage children to learn through exploration, interaction, and connection with others.
The digital elements of the GrowWell SEL resources are designed to support, not replace, meaningful interaction between children and adults. The animated videos provide a short, engaging introduction to each social and emotional learning topic, using child-friendly visuals, relatable characters, and age-appropriate storytelling. The videos include guided pause moments that encourage educators and parents to stop, ask questions, discuss emotions, and connect the story to children’s own experiences.
The digital content has been developed with children aged 3–7 years in mind, following principles of child development, accessible and engaging educational design, including appropriate duration, clear visual storytelling, simple language, and developmentally suitable content.
The videos are intended to be used together with the accompanying activities and offline resources, supporting conversation, reflection, creativity, and shared learning experiences rather than passive screen use.
